How to install your favorite OSX apps with Brew + Cask

December 24, 2018

I hate to do boring tasks, like install every app for my machine it is a bored and large process.

If you know which are your loved apps, you can create a script and let Brew and Cask work for you.

Let's the machines works! Let’s the machines works!

The Brew is a great package manager for OSX. He is the principal actor in our movie. Run the next command from the terminal to install it.

/usr/bin/ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)"

Setup and Configure your script.

Using your favorite editor create an empty file with like you-fav-apps .sh extension, and write every app like the next example.

brew cask install slack
brew cask install visual-studio-code
brew cask install google-chrome
brew cask install skype
brew cask install spotify
brew cask install transmission
brew cask install the-unarchiver
brew cask install go2shell

Back to the terminal and add permission a+x to yourfile.sh, and execute him using ./. Cask can validate if your application is already installed before to install it.

Brew cask installing your apps. Brew cask installing your apps.

There you have it! Installing your favorites apps with Brew and cask. I hope you enjoyed and hope it saved you some time, feel free to give me a clap!.
